Psalm 118:1-29

His Steadfast Love Endures Forever

118 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    for his steadfast love endures forever!

Let Israel say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”

Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
    the Lord answered me and set me free.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
    What can man do to me?
The Lord is on my side as my helper;
    I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in princes.

10 All nations surrounded me;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
11 They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
12 They surrounded me like bees;
    they went out like a fire among thorns;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
13 I was pushed hard, so that I was falling,
    but the Lord helped me.

14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
    he has become my salvation.
15 Glad songs of salvation
    are in the tents of the righteous:
“The right hand of the Lord does valiantly,
16     the right hand of the Lord exalts,
    the right hand of the Lord does valiantly!”

17 I shall not die, but I shall live,
    and recount the deeds of the Lord.
18 The Lord has disciplined me severely,
    but he has not given me over to death.

19 Open to me the gates of righteousness,
    that I may enter through them
    and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord;
    the righteous shall enter through it.
21 I thank you that you have answered me
    and have become my salvation.
22 The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone.
23 This is the Lord’s doing;
    it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save us, we pray, O Lord!
    O Lord, we pray, give us success!

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
    We bless you from the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is God,
    and he has made his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
    up to the horns of the altar!

28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
    you are my God; I will extol you.
29 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    for his steadfast love endures forever!

  1. Give thanks to the Lord for his steadfast love endures forever. Praise his name! Amen.

  2. I will give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
    for His steadfast love endures forever…

    1. Amen and amen. Thank you Jesus. You are my salvation. Your steadfast love endures forever! Praise God.

  3. So many wonderful personal memories of the Lord’s faithfulness in this Psalm. Promises taken to heart that gave assurance , building faith and trust in Him. – Mainly this is another Psalm that points to Christ Jesus- from His triumphal entry to Jerusalem as the crowds hailed Him – to that last Passover with the disciples , when the Jews sing , “This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it,” that Jesus must have sung also, as He accepted His Father’s will, not His own will in the Garden, knowing the Cross lay ahead. Then He became the stone they rejected that became the chief cornerstone of the church – our salvation – when He died for us and rose again and ascended to heaven . One day He returns to claim His earthly throne in Jerusalem to rule and reign.

  4. His love endures forever through all the trials and challenges of life. Praise the lord for his mercy and grace. God please put your spirit on me this week as I go through my treatments and healing.

    1. Praying for you to have great success with your treatments and have the love of God comfort you through it all.

  5. This chapter is the center of the Bible and verse 8 is the center verse in the Bible. This is the psalm that was probably read at the Last Supper. It gives us confidence and security in God alone.

  6. Wow! everyone is involved in worshiping GOD; (HIS people Israel; the house of Aaron, which is all the Priest; & those who fear the LORD–“us.” Why? because HIS faithful love endures forever. It doesn’t get any better than this. The Stone that the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the Most Important of all. With the rejection of JESUS, came the rejection of HIS FATHER & the fulfillment of Scripture. JESUS is the Most Important Part of the Building; HE’s the HEAD & we are HIS body. W/o the HEAD; we’re ruined. Give thanks to the LORD, because HE is good & HIS love is eternal, endures forever, no end, w/o time. we are blessed. Thank YOU LORD; I am blessed by YOU. “PraisAllelujah” Amen…

  7. Verse 8 is a verse stored in my heart, and I have quoted it countless times in these past few years.

  8. His loves endures forever and through all things life bring about. He is faithful and just and He will be the head of our lives if we will just allow Him to be.

    My prayer is that my life represent the love He has shown me in the way I treat others.

    Thank you Lord for your enduring love.

  9. V.24 This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

    It is so hard to believe that Jesus said these words just before He was led to His death. And even harder to understand how.

    Lord, remind me of this and bring these words to me each day as I seek to become more like You. In Jesus Name. Amen.
