The Ruler to Be Born in Bethlehem

5 Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops;
    siege is laid against us;
with a rod they strike the judge of Israel
    on the cheek.
2  But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
    who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
    one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
    from ancient days.
3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time
    when she who is in labor has given birth;
then the rest of his brothers shall return
    to the people of Israel.
4 And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord,
    in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great
    to the ends of the earth.
5 And he shall be their peace.

When the Assyrian comes into our land
    and treads in our palaces,
then we will raise against him seven shepherds
    and eight princes of men;

    “4 And He shall stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord,
    in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God.
    And they shall dwell secure, for now He shall be great to the ends of the earth.
    5 And He shall be their peace.”

  5. The Lord is my Good Shepherd. I dwell secure in Him and He is my Peace. Lord God, please help me to always remember this. Thank you for Your Promises to me.

  6. Thank You for Your amazing word of prophecy that You gave in a dark time – that the promised Messiah would be born in little Bethlehem of Judah- in Galilee- David’s birthplace. This Messiah from ancient days- He is eternal – God incarnate and He is to be King! Then there’s a long gap between when Israel rejected Christ and the Gentiles believed the gospel , -to that glorious day when Israel is revived (almost as if Israel gave birth again) and recognizes her returning Messiah at His second coming . He will rule in righteousness and peace over the earth on His throne in Jerusalem.
    How Your word gives us hope and encouragement today , knowing You are sovereign and have all things progressing to the fulfillment of Your Kingdom plan . Like the old gospel song- “So look up, your redemption draweth nigh! “

  9. Here Israel, God’s people suffered imminent threats of destruction and siege, the kings were humiliated. But, Lord God will bring Jesus out of Bethlehem that is too small to be recognized, that does not have the number of troops to be considered having strength. or posing a threat. A King of king, one who will rule all nations. Born in the the village of his great ancestor David. In due time the scattered people of Israel will return to Jerusalem. Jesus will feed the flock according to the will of God. Jesus will rule with royal power. The enemies will no no longer be a threat to the people of God. God’s people will be at peace, peace within the soul, peace among men, peace between nations. JESUS IS OUR PEACE! Thank you Lord Jesus.

The warning to be prepared back in the day is still good for today; to be watchful & in constant prayer, & have a heart of gratitude & patience as we look forward for our long awaited PRINCE of Peace. I pray to be calm & not anxiously pacing while I look forward to HIS right timing for that peace & harmony of all HIS chosen people to live in safety w/one another.
    To the greatness, & Majesty to the LORD GOD HIMSELF’

  11. So inspiring and comforting to see our Lord and Savior prophesied about in the Old Testament and then presented in human form in the New Testament. God promised and fulfilled His promise, as He will always do.
