Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

47 While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man; seize him.” 49 And he came up to Jesus at once and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him. 50 Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came to do.” Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him. 51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?” 55 At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. 56 But all this has taken place that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.

    Who art in heaven,
    Hallowed be thy name.

  2. Heavenly Father,

    Strengthen my faith, O LORD. As they came for Jesus, all his disciples fled.

    When times get tough, may I not flee from your presence. May I stand firmly on the Rock of my salvation.

    When the crowds say crucify, may I not join them in my words, actions or thoughts. The rocks will come, be my shield and my defender, O LORD.

    May I hide your word in my heart that I might not sin against you, O Creator of the universe.

    Thank you for another day to worship, and pray, and work for the kingdom to come. Fill me anew and afresh with your Holy Spirit.

    Now, Dear Father, let’s be going and doing and seeking the lost, the hurting, the downtrodden, the wanderer.

    Together, let’s make a difference for Jesus, for all we do is in His name.

    Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

  3. Dear Heavenly Father,
    You came as the scriptures revealed you would and you had to fulfill them with your death on the cross and ultimate resurrection. Our lives are are a gift from you and what we do with them is already predetermined.
    I want my life to fulfill your plans and desires . Lead me in the direction I should take. Amen.

  5. We don’t have to fight the Lord’s battles like Peter tried to do (v51). He wants us to use spiritual weapons only.

  6. May I exhibit the kind of courage that Jesus demonstrated throughout his life & ministry! Please prompt my spirit & cause me to take advantage of your divine appointments. Give me the courage to truly live for you!!

  8. Would I have chosen to be one of my group a traitor and then when he comes to be betray me then would I have called him a friend. Jesus did

  9. Heavenly Father let me be found standing with your son Jesus in the last days !

  11. Jesus paid it all–a price I couldn’t pay for a debt that He didn’t owe. Praise His Name forever!

  12. Scriptures were fulfilled. Thank You Lord for your sacrifice though we are undeserving. Praise You Lord! Thank You Heavenly Father! Amen!
