The Call of Abram

12 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, 6 Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. 8 From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord. 9 And Abram journeyed on, still going toward the Negeb.

  2. I Love how the Lord appeared to Abram , telling Him , I will give OUR Offspring this Land. He did not say your, , OUR… WOW.

    I worship and desire to obey my Savior who has made Himself known to me.

  5. If only we would all obey the Lord as Abram did. Then we would receive the blessings he has in store for us . When the Lord calls us, we should go.

  6. Just like Abram, as we are called by God to go, we shall go where the Lord leads us. Without question, by faith, and with His protection.

  8. Father, You are always there, listening to my pleas, watching my every step. May I be still and listen for your voice. May I search your word diligently to know your will. Plant my feet in the center of the narrow path leading to heaven.

    1. May it be said of me…So AMY went forth as the Lord had spoken…and may I be a blessing to others in Your name Father God. 💗

Lord, Your great love and grace has been reaching out to mankind from the beginning- from the promise of the Seed of woman who would be our victory over our sin and death – and all throughout Scripture -as You fulfill Your unconditional promise to Abraham , first given in this passage.- You reached out to Abram and called him to take You by faith and go to a land where You would bless and protect him in such a way that all the families of earth would be blessed , a glimpse of the gospel to come! And Abram obeyed You-and left his old life for that promised land. Faith obeys, walks in faith, waits on You, Father. to bring about Your promise, Your Word, and faith worships You. like Abram did , building altars-and obeying all his life. You continued to build on the Promise, building his faith and maturing him as You fulfilled Your great plan of grace and redemption through Jesus Christ. How we are blessed beyond measure by Your countless mercies and Your great goodness and kindness to us in giving us redemption and everlasting life in Your Son, Christ Jesus our Lord! May we live for You and make You known in all our ways all our days, Lord.

  10. The Lord has called me in a new direction just like Abraham . My husband died in July and I have been fighting my sister in wanting to move by her house. As I listened to several ministers one day one of day said God has a new direction for our lives. We can choose to follow him or stay. I choose and have the peace of God. My home is going on the Market tomorrow. If we obey the Holy Spirit like Abraham did he will always lead us on the right path he has for us.

  11. I am blessed that I have parents and in-laws that modeled the Christian walk for Robyn and I and I am hoping that we are doing that for our daughters as well.

  12. Like Abraham, God called us out of a sinful life, surrounded by sinful people and familiar things. He replaces that which we walk away from due to obedience. He gives us more than we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work in us. We are to become conduits of God’s blessings. Abraham started out as one and became many multiplying as he traveled. The Lord expanded Abraham territory with the land that was promised. Abraham, the father of faith, showed us how to trust God and praise Him. And if we continue in faith God will continue to bless the people of Abraham.

  13. Father will you bless this land we live in and turn the Nation’s heart toward you removing our selfishness and restoring our respect and adoration for you! In the name of you precious Son, Jesus Christ I pray….Amen!

  14. How great is our God in heaven who has prepared a plan for the salvation of the whole world ! Accept Jesus today into your heart and into your life and walk the road less traveled. How great is the reward is our name in the book of life 🙏

    Lord, help us to walk in this world in obedience to your calling on our lives to be lights for your Kingdom. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen

  16. Praise the lord for the obedience of Abraham. If only I could always follow his commands. God loves us so much even with our sinful nature. My the Holy Spirit bring comfort and peace during this trial time in my life.

  17. I have often wondered about Abram’s life and walk with God in the years before he was called to leave his country and lead his family as God directed him. It must have been a close relationship. That is a goal for me to work toward!

  20. That’s what faith in action looks like. Thank YOU LORD for showing me a vivid pic of faith in action & of obedience to the call, & thank YOU for the promise kept of blessed assurance through one faithful man. To the all wise GOD be glory;in the Name of JESUS, Amen

  21. I pray I can learn to walk by faith as Abraham did and be obedient to Gods calling as he was. Please pray for me to have the courage to move when GOD says move and to do what GOd says do.
