Luke 10:25-37

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”

29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

  1. We are told to have mercy on others just as Jesus has done for us. May His example be our guide throughout life. Only by grace are we saved and we should show grace to others . Help us ,Dear Lord, to remember your commandments so that we will be more pleasing in your sight and do what is right . Amen.

  2. Just as God loves and cares for each of us, so we too should love and care for others. This is the command our Lord gives to us.

    1. Who should always be kind to others. If you see someone in trouble or hurt help them.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The Golden Rules. Amen and Praise the Lord 🙏🏻✝🙏🏻✝💜💜

  3. We are reminded to do unto others as we would want them to do unto us. We all need a servant’s heart and God gives us that ability to do so through him.

  4. I will love the Lord my God with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my strength and with all my mind, and my neighbor as myself….

  5. THIS is Christianity in a nutshell. I really needed to read this today. Praise God that he makes his commandments understandable like this. That doesn’t mean they’re easy to do. But they ARE easy to understand.

  6. To be a good neighbor: when you see an opportunity, demonstrate compassion and take immediate action. Some people will read the gospel according to your life.

  7. Lord, I wish to be pleasing to You, loving You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, as well as love my neighbor. In Jesus name I pray.

  8. The two are inseparable; love GOD, love our neighbor. The Priest are responsible to teach that truth & the Levites are to assist them. We are broken people & we live in a broken world; broken people need love & compassion. I thank GOD that HE 1st. loved me. HE always make the 1st. move . Out of the Ten Commandments, we should start w/the 1st one; “LOVE” this word is the cornerstone of all the rest.

  9. A favorite story from the first time thst I heard it in Sunday School many years ago….and I have never tired of hearing it since that time. It’s a warm and compassionate story, one to try and emulate every day….loving my neighbor and showing it!

  10. God is showing us in this reading how we must treat our neighbors and it doesn’t always mean the next door neighbor. It’s anyone who you see needs assistance and love . We like the lawyer sometimes tries to have one up on our teachers and preachers because of our education or status but here God showed that the one that should have stopped and responded including a priest didnot but the Samaitan did. It also allow us to see we can’t judge who will or who won’t be a good neighbor.

    Be blessed hurch
