Mark 4:35-41

Jesus Calms a Storm

35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

  1. When storms arise in our lives we need to call on God and He will calm our fears.

    2. When ever I have a problem my Lord calms me from the storm I am facing. Amen and Glory to God.✝🙏🏻✝🙏🏻💜💜🙌🏻🙌🏻

  2. Often times when we are in the middle of a strom, we need to remember God is always with us, guiding and protecting us.

  3. Trust and obey, trust and obey for there is no other way but to trust and obey.

This passage reminds me of that old song. Many of the old hymns are straight out of the Bible.

Thank you, Jesus. Please help me to trust and obey more and more.

  4. God calms the storms in my life, when I seek after Him. Thank you that you are my refuge in times of need

  5. God’s Word announces He is in the boat with us. God drives out fear. Where there is great faith, there is little fear. Where there is little faith, there is great fear.

  6. Praise the lord🙏 I pray for complete healing of the 4 people in our life group that are dealing with cancer. Cast all your cares on Jesus who can control the sea , wind and waves.

  7. Mark 4:35, “Let us cross over to the other side.” GOD’s Word always come to pass. HE cares for us, we rest in HIM. Thank GOD for JESUS our Savior.

  8. I’m really thankful for the truth of 1 Tim. 6:15 JB Phillips which says “Jesus is the blessed controller of all things. ” Jesus will always keep pace with whatever we face.

  9. We must remember, in following Jesus, especially as new believers, all days will not be fair weather days. Unexpected storms will arise and can rob us of our peace. Our very foundation will be shaken.

Being Jesus followers, of course he cares. We get to know Jesus by spending time with him. He will show us who he is. He’s the same one who created the heavens and the earth and all that is in it. His creation knows his voice and obeys him. Of course, Jesus can sleep among his creation. He spoke them into existence; he can speak them out of existence. Jesus is our Solid Rock, our firm foundation, whether on land or water.

Jesus knows that there are oppositions that will surely come when you are in the boat with him. The opposition of “fear.” And Jesus gives us just what we need to combat fear, “Peace.”

Lord, I thank you that you pray for our faith not to fail and that your desire is for our faith to grow stronger by trusting you and you alone.

  10. Don’t I find myself acting like one of these men in the boat?! But being blessed to have these verses recorded in my Bible and reading them in times of trouble, helps me to return to the reality that Jesus is in control and can calm the fiercest storms.

  11. Oh ye of little faith. I sometimes wonder if God is with me through the storms of life, especially if I cannot figure things out quickly. But here and all through the word of God it tells us to have faith, not big faith but faith the size c of a mustard seed is enough faith to move any mountain. Our fait must be in Christ Jesus not man.

    Be blessed church
